The Hollywood School House is performing “Oz the Musical ” in the Hollywood auditorium on Mar. 20 through Mar. 22. With tickets being sold at $10, the show is expected to be a great success. During the performance, modern pop songs will be sung by two casts of children from first to sixth grade.
The production is a twist on the original story of The Wizard of Oz. This adaptations was written and produced by Teri Benton, co produced by Chambers Stevens, and choreographed by Laena Bernardi.
“I hope everybody comes out to see it, it should be a lot of fun, because the kids have been working really hard on it” said Director, and Co Producer Terrie Benton.
There are currently 80 to 90 students in this musical, and because of this, they split them into two casts. This gave the both groups two performances each through the weekend.
There is also a crew making the musical possible. Along with Hollywood High’s stage crew, the Hollywood School House has gathered a lighting instructor and other members to build and create the set.
“The props are really good especially since they are coming from a prop house, so we are not making them… The kids are adorable, and it will be a great show” said stage crew member, PAM Senior, Kimberly Lagos .
Having this community full of professionals will greatly influence our school’s performers, and encourage both generations of students to work in this industry.
