Every second Thursday of the month artists from all over Los Angeles gather in Downtown to bring L.A culture to life. The Artwalk is a self guided tour in downtown that offers many different kinds of art. The art varies from paintings, drawings and graffiti to physical art, photography, and mixed art. One of the most interesting exhibits was a physical art piece, where people were able to interact with the art. Some of the art seen on the artwalk can be seen just about anywhere in L.A. For example, at the Santa Monica Pier, some of the art venders on the pier are seen at the artwalk trying to promote and sell their art. Although the art pieces go for an expensive price, many artist create smaller portraits/pieces for those who can’t afford their other expensive pieces. These smaller art pieces can be bought for about five to fifteen dollars depending on the artist. At the artwalk, you can find anything that you may like as artist incorporate themes into their art from hello kitty to rap artist portraits. Most of the art themes include urban life, music and the city which seems to reflect what L.A is all about. But there are also themes that include nature, Spanish culture and Jamaican culture. It is like walking through the world but through art. Some of the artist also incorporated their beliefs into their art. One artist replicated the world known movie Star Wars but with a twist , “stop wars.” There is much more to see every month,so stop by and admire the weird, cultural and fine art in downtown.
