Seniors attended the cash for college workshop to receive help with FAFSA, also known as, federal student aid on Jan. 31.  It started from 9-2 P.M having Ms. Brown and other financial aid counselors explain to the parents the application process and answered any questions or doubts.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide information to students on how to fill out the application because it most be filled out each year. For most parents it can be stressful and confusing because their son or daughter are first in the family to go to college or university.

“Don’t let financial aid intimidate you.” said Patricia L. Martinez, Assistant Director of Compliance/VA specialist from FIDM.  Martinez was one of the financial aid counselor and translators in Spanish.  Her job is to make the student know exactly what he is doing with confidence and if the student has siblings attending college in the future, he is present to help.

After the process is completed, a survey must  be taken to let the counselors and program know what improvements should be done such as if they should provide more translators, one to one help, and so on.
