This year’s spring performance is an “upbeat” musical interpretation of the Beacon Pictures and STU Segall Productions movie franchise, Bring It On: the musical.

With 12 main characters, four understudies, dancers, and a ensemble choir group this production casted close to 51 members, not counting the cheerleading squad that will be added.

“I tried to cast the best person for the role,” said Director Paul Itkin “ it does get competitive and it did get competitive.”

This production is a “change of mood” in comparison to last years spring musical, Spring Awakening. Being a more family friendly musical, the students at Hollywood are interested and the cast is equally enthusiastic.

Singer and cheerleader, Solene Flores, said   “I expect that its going to be a lot of work and its going to be a little bit chaotic, but i’m excited.”

It seems that having this musical is of interest to many students at the school. “ Its a great opportunity, Mr. Itkin puts on some great shows, this should be fun” said singer, Jeovany Fritz.

Some roles have been double casted to divide up the performances and others were understudied to ensure a good cast for each show.

“ We are in a high school, but when I cast people, I expect them to act and perform professionally. We are not doing a high school play, we are doing a professional play with high school students”, said Itkin.

Having Bring It On the musical is expected to be a big success along with all the other productions that have been held at Hollywood in the past.

“I’m excited, this is my first musical here at Hollywood and I can’t wait to see the end product of our progress, I expect this to go above my expectations, which are normally high” said singer, Norman Thatch.

This spring production will be one to remember especially with the help of this outstanding musical.
