The 200 building experienced two classroom break-ins over the weekend. According to the investigation, the violators left personal items, and  illegal substances including alcohol in one of the classrooms. There is no clear information on who the intruders are but it seems as though the people came for recreational purposes and not to steal items. There is currently an investigation to find out how the people entered the classrooms.

Normally, breaking and entering is considered a crime. This may frighten other fellow teachers and raise speculation on whether this could happen again. What kind of security could be used to prevent this from occurring? Should parents be notified?

The questions on everyone’s mind are, how were these people able to get to a second floor and open a locked door on a weekend? Did they have the key? Or did they simply climb and enter from the window?

As a student, security cameras might feel like an invasion of privacy. School should not feel like a prison but as a teacher in a situation, one would feel violated and feel a need to have security cameras. Parents might also be upset to find out the school does not have a proper security system. This incident raises a big question; Are we safe at school?
