The 107th Annual Alumni Celebration included the unveiling of a bronze plaque on the steps of the library marking the school as a historic landmark. The May 16th event included such dignitaries as City Councilmen Mitch O’Farrell, Tom La Bonge, School Board Member Steve Zimmer, and members of the Hollywood High School Alumni Association.

The Alumni Association board members were given awards for their recognition and dedication. Some faculty and  the leadership class got certificates for their dedication. Many Alumni came to the plaque unveiling and were proud of the school’s legacy.

The school was named a California Historic Landmark in 2011 and added to the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 2012. The plaque, designed by HHSAA board members Brooks Wachtel and Susan Silvestri, commemorates that famous designation.

Later, the group was invited for a tour of the school and the changes the school has made from when they were students. Leadership made props that reminisced their high school years. The alumni enjoyed a menu of their era and later the group ended their day watching Performing Arts Magnet Spring Awakening’s opening night production.
