Hollywood High has been selected by the Los Angeles Department Of Transportation to be involved in making the area around the school safer for traffic and pedestrians. LADOT has made proposals for a project to make the area around Hollywood High and Selma Elementary “safer and better” for “walking, traffic, and bikes,” according to Assistant Principal Cassandra Morris.
She asked the leadership class to conduct a survey to the students on what were their methods for getting to and from school. “I asked leadership to help with the survey during advisory during the Smarter Balanced tests,” she said, adding that the survey could not be done during class time.
Proposals for the plan include adding traffic lights, a traffic circle, and speed bumps, but nothing has been approved so far.
