PowerPuff comes back to Hollywood

The seniors won back the PowerPuff title with a score of 38-12 after the event was gone for three years.

LACER, an afterschool program, collaborated with the Associated Student Body, in efforts to bring back the spirits of the events.

PowerPuff formerly known as PowderPuff a name that was later changed in an effort to empower young women. The previous term was deemed sexist, which prompted the change.

The spirit of Hollywood was rightfully displayed during the event. Many former football players can be seen enacting cheer routines and wearing colorful tutus and pom poms. The players wearing pink were cheering the seniors, and those wearing purple supported the Juniors.

Many giveaways occurred during the events. From cheerleaders throwing out shirts in support of women, and LACER giving away two pairs of wireless headphones. Leadership students were also in charge of face-painting the players and the audience.

The game itself started off strong for the juniors, who had a six-point lead. The seniors then came back strong with various touchdowns 38-12, making the seniors the final winners.

“This was the first time I attend a PowerPuff, and it’s definitely so much fun,” said Ashley Reyes a SAS sophomore.

Crimson Chronicle sports reporter James Ajin, was also seen commentating the game and hyping up the crowd.

“Having a sports commentator during the event was such a great idea,” said Deborah Ruiz a SAS sophomore. “We should continue to have them through regular football games.”

  1. The game was about the girls and yet your article has photos of the boys and nothing about the girls who played.
