After six nominations for the previous Academy Awards, DiCaprio finally won his first Oscar for the Best Actor in a Leading Role after his performance in “The Revenant.”

He was first nominated at the age of 19 for the Best Supporting Actor in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.” Since then he has been nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the films “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Blood Diamond,” and “The Aviator.”

Over the course of 22 years, DiCaprio’s fans have become anxious for him to finally win a well-deserved Oscar. His fans used social media to congratulate him with tweets full of excitement and plenty of jokes.

“If #LeonardoDiCaprio doesn’t win for #BestActor tonight I am going to cry. I have been waiting for this moment since Titanic!!!” @PiaToscano.

Many people could not believe that after 25 years in the movie industry, DiCaprio had never won an Oscar. Everyone believed that his performance in the movie Titanic, filmed in the year 1997, was enough for him to win Best Actor, however the voters believed otherwise. Since that movie, DiCaprio demonstrated his great potential and continued to perform his best in any role he played. It was inevitable that Leonardo DiCaprio took that Best Actor award.

His fans were greatly amused and excited for him. The hashtag #LeonardoDiCaprio was trending throughout the whole award ceremony, therefore his success in receiving his well-deserved award made many people greatly satisfied.

“A moment of silence for all the “Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t have an Oscar’ jokes. 1993-2016” @SteveStfler
