In early January, Powerball fever struck the entire nation. People were buying multiple tickets for a chance to win staggering $1.5-billion. The odds of winning such a large jackpot was a slim 1 in 292 million meaning a person had a better chance of getting struck by lightening which is a 1 in 3,000. Luckily three people beat the odds and became billionaires overnight. We decided to ask students and staff what they would do if they won the Powerball. Here are some of their answers!
“I would buy super nice cars, mansions, and invest my money on banks. I would also buy Trader Joe’s, a lifetime supply of turkey bacon because it’s essential, unbleach my skin, and get a lightsaber.” -Joud Alaaeddine Senior SAS
“I would invest in Starbucks, buy a house with a gym, and two cars. Then I would donate a quarter of my money and buy this school” -Edwin Mazariegos Senior PAM
“I’d buy a family of giraffes and pay for my friends college tuition.” -Valorie Reyes Junior PAM
“I would travel the world.” -Raul Melgar Hollywood High Staff
