On a pleasantly fair morning at the Dodger Stadium, more than 20,000 participants finished the rigorous race to the Santa Monica beach on Feb 14.
The finishers were varying from students, teachers/administrators, elite runners, handicapped ones, and elders, and some of them are our daring yet self-assured students, teachers, and administrators who made it to the finish line on time.
The marathoners who completed the race on time are students George and Maria Contreras, Kimberli Lazaro, Illeana Lemus, Frank and Henry Marquez, Agusto Rodriguez, Vivian Rodriguez, Leydy Sosa, Jose Valenzuela, and Oscar Ortiz Vasquez, Esmeralda Zambrano, and assistant principal Samuel Dovlatian.
“SRLA is not about being the fastest, it is about finishing a goal,” said SAS lead teacher Geoffrey Buck. “All our students attended all training practices and were very well prepared to complete the goal without cramping up or having to drop out.”
The marathoners pace from the Downtown’s authentic Chinatown to the renowned Walt Disney Hall then from Hollywood blvd to the heart of Beverly Hills to reach the final destination at Santa Monica Pier.
