Six miles of Downtown Los Angeles were reserved for the bicyclists, skaters, and pedestrians who were part of the fifth anniversary celebration of the CicLAvia, the heart of Los Angeles.

The refreshing Sunday morning’s course began from 8:30 am and the streets were already packed with eager riders and walkers as it promptly started. The organized event extended from Los Angeles City Hall through the civic center, the Arts district, Little Tokyo area, Boyle Heights, and the MacArthur park.

Regardless of the drizzly weather, many people showed up with excitement to gear up their bicycles and steer their wheels through the center of downtown.

“[We] ran 12 miles in total and it was fun,” said the science teacher Robert Brombach, “Eight [of our] students showed up and it was nice for us because there were less people, due to the rain and constant drizzle, so we biked as much and fast as we can wanted.”

Their next breezy ride will be on the Los Angeles river on Nov 1. Students who want to enjoy autumn’s crispy atmosphere and simply enjoy the enchanting views of the city should sign up for the Bike Club. The club’s meetings are Tuesdays at lunch in Brombach’s room and Wednesdays after school in Antonio Manriquez’s class.
