Junior Council’s first fundraiser was held at Pizza Five 85 this week, Dec. 9, to help reach the goal of graduating at the Hollywood Bowl, raising money for the junior class and council, and for other activities. The fundraiser was hosted by Junior Council cabinet and representatives.
Vice President of Junior Council, Maria Contreras said, “This is the start of many fundraisers to begin raising for the Hollywood Bowl. All juniors should be supportive of these fundraisers. It is a mutual support to the school.”
Students arrived by train in groups or with family members. They sat down to socialize while eating. The parlor was filled with all Juniors from TCA, MET, SAS, and PAM. Junior Council’s representatives were present and kept track of the proceeds. The fundraiser was integrated with all SLC’s, as well as many council meetings are, working together to raise funds.
Students attended the pizza parlor and mentioned they were from Hollywood, so that a portion of the proceeds can go towards fundraising for the junior class. This was achieved when purchasing something from the menu.
Based on overall turn out, students seemed to find these fundraisers beneficial and fun to the junior class. Oscar Aguila, SAS Junior, was among many of the students who attended this event. Aguila said, “The fundraiser was fun and delicious. The food was well made and there was a lot of choices for toppings. Overall, if Junior Council continues these activities, there is a strong chance we will reach our goal.”
