“1989” Taylor Swift – album review

World famous country singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift, released her fifth album on Oct. 27. Born in Tennessee, she started her career as a country singer. When she was 14, she scored a record deal and was the youngest songwriter hired by Sony. At the age of 16, she released her debut album and since then she has received 7 Grammy awards, 15 American Music Awards, and 12 Billboard Music Awards. Some of her past albums include “Fearless,” “Speak Now,”and “Red.”

Since Taylor Swift’s first album, fans have noticed a change in her music. Recent songs are more upbeat and modern compared to her old songs with instruments such as the banjo that declared her a country artist. The singer said that 1989 is her first official pop album, and she no longer performs with her previous band members.

Despite her genre change, Taylor swift received positive responses to her new album.  1989 sold 1.287 million copies in its first week of US release, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and making Swift the first and only act to have three albums sell more than one million copies in a week. She was the first female artist to replace herself for number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

 

The new album  is titled “1989” and includes 13 songs:

  8. Bad Blood
  9. Wildest Dreams
