Pep rallies are to show school spirit!

Pep rallies, in my opinion, should be a place where there’s fun and school spirit. The definition of a pep rally is a meeting by students before a sport event so to arouse enthusiasm and school spirit, therefore, I expect nothing less than that if I attend one. Sadly, I have never gone to a pep rally but would like to in the future. When you see pep rallies in the movies you see people having a great time and with a lot of school spirit, in seeing that you expect it. Pep rallies are done for a reason, to raise students’ hopes for the upcoming game. And if it doesn’t deliver that then what type of pep rally is it?

Many of my peers have attended pep rallies in the past and said they’ve had a great time and they would go again. That’s the effect pep rallies should leave on people! Pep rallies can help students come together and have fun. And if the school team were to lose, students wouldn’t feel as bad because of the fun they had before the game. They would know that they tried their best, so it wasn’t a complete loss. When I was in middle school nobody really cared for the school sports teams, which didn’t help the teams put effort into the game. Though now that I’m in high school and the school has pep rallies and higher school spirit, our sports teams can get their heads in the game. For athletes it’s reassuring to them if they know that people are supporting them and having faith in them to bring home the win. And having activities like pep rallies can do this! Hopefully my first pep rally will meet my expectations.
