New school year, new journalism staff member positions. Next school year the journalism staff will have a new editor-in-chief , managing editor, copy editor and feature/entertainment editor. The current staff members in those positions are seniors and their places will be taken by juniors. Erika Salazar will be the new editor-in-chief, taking Vanessa Garcia’s place. Holly San Nicolas’ managing editor place would be taken by Maricela Cordova. Taking Ray Reyes’ place as copy editor will be Steve Montoya. The new feature and entertainment editor will be Susan Cifuentes.
With new staff members being in charge, there are new expectations and goals for the staff. ‘’ My expectation is to have enthusiastic journalists that I can help’’, says Erika, next years editor-in-chief. She also mentioned ‘’ No one is a failure and everyone can write!’’ She wants to inspire people to work with the staff and have a fun experience in the class.
What will become of journalism next year? Will it be better than this year? Or not as good? It is still unknown what new things the newspaper will have next year. All that is known so far is that next year there will be new reporters and staff members. Each year the newspaper tries to make changes in the class that require the class members to work as a team, get to know new people and have fun.
