The weight room is now available to all students during lunch to promote Kaiser’s Healthy Living Campaign. “It is great for students who don’t participate in sports after school to use the facility. I enjoy going to the weight room and as far as I know, more and more people are showing up. More people should take advantage of this opportunity,” said Andrew Vargas, SAS junior.
Athletes have had permission to be in the weight room because of the sport that they played. “It’s a great opportunity for kids to come in and work out. We opened the weight room because we are trying to promote a healthy living,” said Frank Galvan, football coach.
Students can only go to the weight room Tuesday thru Thursday during lunch. “I would go to the weight room to get in shape so I can start living a healthy life,” said Kimberly Lopez, PAM senior.
Along with the weight room being open to other students, the school will also be adding new equipment.
Nurse Noel Santiago, said, “ I think that the new weight equipment will come around the summer when everyone is gone so they will have time to change the weight room.”
Obesity is an issue which impacts young adults today. To help start a decrease in the rates, teens can use the weight room to exercise.
SAS senior Melany Jimenez said, “It is good that our school is promoting more healthy living standards, by opening the weight room to students, by encouraging healthy eating with nutritious lunches. It makes the school look good in a healthy manner of speaking.”
Deborah Ebrahemi is responsible for the new equipment coming in.
