The TCA Child Development program hosted an event called “Week of the Young Child” for children from different elementary schools on Friday, April 12 from 12 to 3 pm. The Week of the Young Child is an annual event, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
“The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families,” said TCA Child Development teacher Leora Riley”, to recognize early childhood programs and services that meet those needs”.
Her students were assigned to different positions. Some of her students were paired up with a junior to be a tour guide, and this tour guides their assigned group of children through each station.
Riley’s other seniors were working in each station. The stations include; interactive art, watercolor art, having fun with literacy, music, fun fitness, dancing, bubbles, and healthy snacks. There were 100 students from Grant Elementary School and 30 from Cheremoya Elementary School.
“I feel excited for this wonderful opportunity to show the children our high school,” said TCA senior Savannah Monterrey.
The children left with goodie bags at the end of the event.
