Seniors should have the choice to leave school early

With the final semester of high school coming to an end for seniors, they should be let out early from class. I’m not saying everyone should be let out early, but seniors with high marks in their classes should be allowed to leave.

If I take a look at my schedule, I have my AP classes in the morning, which include English and history, and my math class in the morning too. Every other class on my schedule is an elective. My friends’ schedules look the same: important classes in the morning, and electives throughout the day.

Honestly, it’s a waste of time to have this many non-important classes. My counselor says that the reason we have various electives is to make us look good to colleges, but we are done applying to college aren’t we? It’s the second semester, and our final one, so why shouldn’t we be allowed to leave early?

Our applications are turned in, and our graduation date, prom, and senior activities are more or less set. Most seniors at school sit around in their elective classes and lose precious time because of how unnecessary they are. Some seniors have met the graduation criteria, and already have all their credits. So to me, those seniors, who have good grades, should be allowed to leave early.

I say, have the seniors attend their important classes in the morning, and then be dismissed in the afternoon. If we aren’t allowed to leave after our required classes finish, seniors with jobs should, at the least, be allowed to leave early so they can work more hours.

Students must have the personal time to have fun and think about their lives after high school, instead of having to use that time to complete assignments for unnecessary electives.
