The annual fall blood drive hosted by ASB is back, on Monday, Oct. 23 in the big gym from 8:45 am to 2:45 pm. Students can sign up with any leadership student to participate.

Donors must be at least 16 years old and have parental permission. The parental consent form is not required for those who are older than 17. To qualify you must be within the permitted weight and height ranges. For men, regardless of height, the requirement is at least 110 pounds. The weight requirement for women, however, will depend on your height. For more information, see the chart below.

Before the blood drive, donors should get a good night’s sleep, eat foods high in iron, and drink plenty of water to ensure that the process is quick and painless.

“There is no substitute for blood, and it can’t be manufactured,” according to the Red Cross. “Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages from all backgrounds.”
