Popular Chicago artist Lil Durk released his highly anticipated album, “Almost Healed” Thursday at midnight. The album includes 21 tracks with a total runtime of 56:35.

“Many young men like myself have faced some sort of trauma in their lives. This album is a representation of what transpires through difficult situations and the processes we go through while healing,” said the rapper on an Instagram post.

Durk was associated with the rise of Chicago drill, a new form of music that saw huge success in the early 2010’s, and now is an established genre of music. This genre of music included the heavy implications of crime and gang related incidents, giving the city the nickname “Chiraq.”

This album seems to reflect his new image as a mature Chiraq survivor, as the first track titled “Therapy Session” is performed by popular R&B artist Alicia Keys. The song states all of the rapper’s tragic losses, including the death of his best friend and brother within the span of a year.

There’s a balance between Chiraq realism and global pop throughout the entire project, Durk doesn’t deviate from what got him his mainstream success, yet adds a form of relief that came with moving out of Chicago.

With a total of nine features, this album surely didn’t disappoint, and could even strike a bit of relation to his audience.
