Have you ever wanted to travel to places like Japan and Greece? International travel opportunities are now available for students at Hollywood High through teacher Rania Zeineddine.
The company that students will be traveling through is EF Tours: Educational Tours. EF Tours is a company that “design tours to help educators teach, and so students can learn more—about tolerance, other perspectives, and themselves.”
The group leader of these trips at Hollywood High is Rania Zeineddine, a TCA teacher, who started this summer by taking students to Costa Rica. “It was so fun! It was amazing, it was full of adventures: We did zip-lining, we did all of these excursions, experiences, it was very fast paced, and we couldn’t get enough.”
She first experienced EF Tours as a senior in high school when she went to Italy and France. It became an eye opening experience which promoted her interest to bring it to Hollywood High. “Oh I highly recommend them, I think that they’re life changing and really good to expose us to communities, cultures, and life skills!”
During Spring Break, 36 students will be going on a nine-day trip to Japan where they will visit Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka. The cost will be around 4 thousand dollars. For any interested students, there is still space available for them.
For the summer of 2024, students will be going to Greece on a 9 day trip to Athens, Argolida, and Delphi. They will see sights like the Olympic Stadium, the Parthenon, and they will take part in a Greek festival on the last night.
There will be an informational meeting on Oct. 25, at 7 pm over Zoom to talk about the trip to Greece. In order to attend the meeting, registration is mandatory. For more information, you can find Rania Zeineddine in room 202.
There is also a scholarship available to students to help fund their trip. Named the EF Tours Global Citizens Scholarship, $1,000 is awarded to as many as 100 students from around the country.
In order to apply you have to:
- Complete an online application.
- Create a 2 to 3 minute video answering the question: How will travel change the way you think, feel, or act about the world?
Application deadlines vary depending on tour dates.
