Two dances canceled would be one too many

The Sadie Hawkins Spring Fling dance is to be held on the school’s blacktops on April 16. This year’s Sadie Hawkins theme is when a girl asks the boy to be her date.

However, it is not certain that the Spring Fling dance will be happening due to a lack of sales in tickets. If the quota needed to have the dance is not met by this Friday, the dance will have to be cancelled just like Winter Formal.

Much reason for the unwillingness to attend the dance is the terrible reputation Hollywood High has organizing such events. Many students have complained that in previous years the dances were “boring” and “not worth the money.”
Another big issue is that the dance is less than a month away from prom, May 13. All the seniors are distracted getting ready for prom and the events that take place during their last two months in high school.

TCA senior Arnulfo Hernandez said, “Why would I waste energy and time on Spring Fling when prom is less than a month away? I’m already spending $120 on that.”

Also, many of the students seem to feel discouraged from buying tickets due to the theme.

“No girl has asked me, I have no date. I’d feel weird going without one,” said TCA senior Jonathan Mendoza.
The Sadie Hawkins theme was picked for fun and to encourage girls to ask boys rather than the other way around like it usually is. But it is not mandatory that everyone goes with a date, and everyone is encouraged to go with their groups of friends as well!

The ASB Leadership team has been trying hard to reach everybody’s expectations. There will be a change in food, decorations, and DJ. Hopefully those accommodations will convince more of student body to attend.The food and sweets will be sold for a very low price. Also, everyone will be given one free Polaroid photo.

Cancelling another dance is not a good road to go down.
